Fedcap Occupational Therapist in Rochester, New York

Easterseals NY is hiring a full time Occupational Therapist.

$3,000 Sign on bonus for successful candidates

Salary Range:$55,000 to $58,500

Position Summary:

Our Occupational Therapists are part of a large interdisciplinary team that includes Psychiatry, Psychology, nursing, behavior specialists, speech pathologists, nutritionists, physical therapists, and social work. This team comes together to design the most innovative and creative approach to meeting the unmet needs of our children. The Occupational Therapist will support students in individual and group therapy sessions per Individual Education Plan (IEP) requirements as well as supporting classroom and residential teams in the carryover of therapeutic supports across all 24-hours of the individual's day. In addition to direct therapy, the Occupational Therapist will conduct formal standardized evaluations, conduct observational assessments, train staff in wraparound strategies, conduct observations and skill assessments in the residential units, mentor, and coach direct care staff, attend and participate in CSE and residential planning meetings, support family skill development for carryover, and develop treatment plans with commensurate goals for each individual.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work as a member of the team (with family, staff, and other service providers) to provide quality supports and services for children and their families.

  • Participate in team evaluations to determine the developmental status and initial or ongoing eligibility.

  • Develop IFSP's with other team members.

  • Maintain professional standards, and current skills in therapy techniques.

  • Provide occupational therapy services for children.

  • Write progress notes on-time schedule addressing the child's strengths, needs, and progress.

  • Complete record keeping as required by licensing/certifying agency.

  • Aid in maintaining equipment and workspace.

  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences, and other meetings as assigned.

  • Assist in staff development and training.

    Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Current and Valid New York State Occupational Therapy License.

  • Two (2) years of experience providing Occupational Therapy services to the respective community highly preferred.

  • Desire to work with the clients in both a school and residential setting.

  • Possess ability to function as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
