University of Rochester Mgr, EHR Applications in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Manager, EHR Applications is a member of a cross-functional team where teamwork, collaboration, challenges and continuous learning are the norm. The primary responsibilities of the position include evaluating, recommending, planning, directing and coordinating information applications, systems and technologies for URMC to improve operations, clinical care, use of resources and billing and accounts receivables. Directs assigned groups, projects and activities. Responsible for hiring, performance reviews, and personal development of staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as primary liaison for the EHR applications/information system. Completes the functional design and directs the build of the applications. Manages all phases of assigned projects and coordinates personnel and other resources as required for the completion of the project. Coordinates all issues that arise. Directs work of Analysts, provides feedback on performance, provides coaching and mentoring, on-boards new employees and contributes to performance improvement plans when necessary.

  2. Directs stakeholders and SME¿s in reviewing software changes. Coordinates software updates and changes. Directs the review and testing of new releases. Reviews requested enhancements. Collects information regarding potential system enhancement needs. Presents details of specifications as prepared by analysts. Analyzes data conversion needs.

  3. Works with EHR representatives, other IT teams and departments to ensure the system meets end-user needs. Coordinates in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details and other technical issues associated with EHR software. Investigates preferred choices of end users. Responds to EHR related technical questions.

  4. Analyzes business operations and implements LEAN operational improvements. Prioritizes and implements requested changes to the system. Analyzes new functionality in new releases to determine how it should be used.

  5. Develops and documents internal operational procedures to use in conjunction with EHR applications. Follows established change control processes and procedures for the system. Coordinates work across teams to meet URMC strategic goals.

  6. Coordinates with other applications and EHR support for successful completion of upgrades. Escalates as appropriate to leadership relative to URMC strategic initiatives.

  7. Develops integrated strategies and work plans. Manages completion of team activities as documented in the work plan. Directs and guides the activities of assigned staff, and in conjunction with the Project Director, participates in the recruitment, staffing decisions, performance evaluations and other personnel actions.

  8. Utilizes effective communication and problem-solving skills to meet customer needs. Creates structure that promotes teamwork, collaboration and a positive environment that welcomes debate and discussion.

  9. Models best practice for clinical and operational customers and others on the team, including precepting staff at all levels. Collaborates with operational governance in priority setting for URMC. Represents the department at the customer and organizational level (e.g. hospital-based committees).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate¿s degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • 4 years of relevant experience required

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and developed critical thinking skills required

  • Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists and work to a project plan required

  • Strong communication and follow-up skills required

  • Detail-oriented and an ability to probe for information to fully understand the needs of the organization and user community required

  • Some familiarity with Meaningful Use (ARRA), TJC and HIPAA and Billing regulations preferred

  • Epic certification in related application required

Pay Range

Pay Range: $86,482 - $129,723 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job¿s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
