SUMMARY:

The Material Handler/Drop-Shipper maintains a steady flow of food and non-food items within the department, ensuring that all workstations are stocked and ready to operate. Maintains a clean and safe environment in and around all work areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for preparing and processing food and non-food items in a timely fashion: accurately according to delivery tickets.

  • Move materials (Food Service) as needed utilizing carts and pallet jacks. Report any damaged goods.

  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping throughout the food service department– removing debris from floors and disposing of full trash cans properly.

  • General duties: Performs all assigned food service tasks to ensure coordination of all production operations and products following the Monroe County Department of Health Guidelines.

  • Promotes a safe working environment and employs cost effective methods and time efficient procedures in completing jobs and tasks.

  • Backup and support to the supervisor in his/her daily duties, with the reporting of personnel issues during the times the supervisor is not available in the area.

  • Helps to build an ever growing and learning environment and teamwork through training others and learning new jobs.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years successful work experience in a similar position.

OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.

KNOWLEDGE:

Good recordkeeping and documentation practices. Prefer some computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Able to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations. Able to digest numerous types of equipment manuals and drawings. Communicates effectively with groups of managers, employees, customers and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY:

Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and manuals in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be reasonably mobile. The employee must have the use of hands and arms and be able to work in a variety of situations, some of which may require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling or crouching. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in both face‑to‑face or telephone situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
