Histologist I: Must be NYS Certified

Job Description

As a Histologist I, you will be responsible for following standard established procedures, processing and staining tissue for examination to assist in receiving a diagnosis by a Pathologist. You will work under general supervision while performing tasks such as preparing gross surgical specimens, maintaining positive identification of all specimens throughout the process cycle, and performing necessary quality control procedures to ensure the reliability of all results. Additionally, you will maintain and compile necessary records and reports, and ensure proper maintenance and documentation of all instrument checks and preventative/routine maintenance.

Hard Skills

• Experience in staining histologic sections

• Competency in preparing special stains and solutions for differential staining

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Pittsford, New York.

Work Environment

The work environment involves frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals with a moderate noise level.
