We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and dynamic leader to spearhead the development and implementation of a corporate communications strategy that supports a common understanding of who Paychex is and what the company does for all applicable audiences (clients, shareholders, investors, media, influencers, industry analysts, general public). In this critical leadership position, the successful candidate will think creatively and partner closely with a variety of executives, internal communications, and investor relations to effectively position Paychex as the digitally driven HR leader and enhance the brand's reputation and awareness across communication channels.

Responsibilities

  • Plays a lead role in advancing, managing, and protecting the company’s reputation and brand awareness through creation and execution of a comprehensive Corporate Communications strategy that reflects public and media relations, industry analyst relations, and operational client communications priorities.

  • Builds, leads, and inspires a strong, experienced communications team of communications professionals to deliver impactful programs that advance the company’s mission and values. Aligns with the marketing leadership team to support an integrated editorial calendar that identifies events, online publications, influencers, and partnerships that will reach key target audiences in new and innovative ways.

  • Helps drive executive communications to external audiences through continued development of strong narratives and initiatives that raise the profile of senior leaders, including speaker and media training as needed.

  • Interfaces directly with Paychex Chief Executive Officer to support external communications needs and provides strategic PR council.

  • Oversees the development and execution of comprehensive media relations strategy that maximizes digital, national, local, and trade publications to position Paychex as an industry authority and digitally driven HR leader.

  • Plays a proactive role in in issues management and crisis communications matters to ensure informative, clear communication to stakeholder audiences while maintaining company authority and reputation.

  • Serves as chief spokesperson for the company as needed in advancing company messaging with integrity and authority.

  • Oversees the development of clear, concise, actionable, need-to-know communications to clients that adhere to CAN-SPAM regulations and help keep customers informed and compliant.

  • Plays a key role in helping to continuously refine a customer-centric communications approach that prioritizes the client experience.

  • Supports corporate social responsibility, corporate philanthropy, and community relations communication needs as needed to proactively expand and advance the company’s reputation as an industry and community leader.

  • Manages all aspects of the Corporate Communications team, including selecting, hiring, promoting, disciplining, and evaluating performance of the team to ensure needs are met in conjunction with corporate metrics. Counsels and develops team members to achieve personal and professional advancement through career development, training, and other resources as identified and/or required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in Related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $162,400-$188,000 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
