University of Rochester Financial Analyst II in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

General Purpose :

Under direct supervision of the and with latitude for independent judgment, the Financial Analyst will conduct specialized and highly complex analyses of financial data in support of the various Division functions. Designs, develops and generates financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate data in order to guide divisional and department leadership as it relates to the AIR Division.

Responsibilities :

Serves as the main point of contact for the Division’s Finances. Working closely with the Division Chief and Administrator, develops the annual Divisional budget, including the updated forecast for the current fiscal year. Prepares and presents reports regularly to the Division Chief and Administrator regarding the overall finances of the Division and makes recommendations for cost savings and/or business opportunities to increase revenue. Develops business improvement plans at the direction of the Chief and Administrator.

Conducts specialized financial analysis and research on subjects that will assist with financial and operational decisions with AIR’s Research, Education and Patient care missions. Takes current and new University policies into consideration and analyzes the financial impact of new initiatives. Examples of specialized analyses include but are not limited to assisting with expansion analyses for clinical care, analysis for mix of new vs follow up patients, etc.

Analyzes and interprets data, statistics and financial information. Compiles and prepares reports, graphs and charts of data analyzed. Makes presentations to Division Chief, Administrator and Principal Investigators on areas of research or analysis. Prepares conclusions, forecasts and makes financial recommendations based on research. Examples of presentations, reports and charts include but are not limited to AIR Physician Report Cards and divisional KPI and performance reports.

Analyzes revenues and charges of all operating and gift accounts to ensure accuracy. Investigates differences between budget and actuals and makes recommendations based on results. Works with the research staff and administrator to confirm all personnel salaries are charged appropriately. Creates journal entries and PAF forms as needed.

As assigned, assumes responsibility for special projects involving research, planning and recommending changes, for example, analyzing clinical access data and recommending changes for improving access, and establishing a funding mechanism for unallocable/unallowable research coordinator effort. Assumes responsibility for the project, establishes time tables, actively plans and coordinates the efforts of subordinate staff.

Keeps abreast of trends as they relate to financial management and adapts new developments into planning, control and analytical processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance functional area.

  • 2 years of related experience

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Accounting, financial analysis, strong communication skills, critical thinking skills

Pay Range

Pay Range: $59,197 - $82,888 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
