SUMMARY

Performs as a Radiologic Technologist and a Special Procedures Technologist in collaboration with multidisciplinary team within Interventional & Imaging Services.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Unity Hospital

DEPARTMENT: EP/Cath Lab

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, Day Shift, Rotating weekends

ATTRIBUTES
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT)
  • BLS Certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to work various software applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs as a radiologic technologist; prioritizes tasks and exams, confirms patient identification and examination, provides radiologist with pertinent information for interpretation, individualizes and provides effective explanations of exams to patients, correctly positions patients for standards examination views, performs special or additional views if required by adjusting routine for difficult or limited movement patients. Assesses film quality and determines need for repeat. Discusses exam with radiologist. Works with all assigned x-ray equipment and accessories.
  • Performs as a Special Procedures Technologist. Procedures include but not limited to: all angiography and digital acquisitions, cardiac catherizations, pacemaker insertions, IVC filters, stents, peripheral angioplasty, coronary angioplasty, insertion of dialysis catheters, PICCs, vertebroplasty, uterine artery embolizations.
  • Utilizes the ALARA principle to maintain safe radiation standards.
  • Assists physicians in procedures requiring sterile technique.
  • Assists physician/RN in immediate post-operative care of patient. Holds pressure to groin after removal of sheath.
  • Assists in room set up and turnover.
  • Responsible for ordering and stocking of procedural supplies.
  • Completes documentation relevant to invasive procedures. Maintains records and technical notations of each case.
  • Assumes responsibility for proper and efficient operation of all equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility in operation of archive manager, CD burner, cardiac work stations, control area and physician viewing area, angio-jet, remote controls, and power injector.
  • Maintains daily procedural log books.
  • Attends in-service education as required; maintains certifications.
  • Respects the confidentiality of patients, departmental and hospital information.
  • Performs responsibilities in a self-directed and cooperative manner. Uses time constructively and organizes assignments for maximum productivity.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities as assigned.
  • Organizes work areas, ordering and restoring supplies, assists Clinical Manager or charge RN for assistance.
  • Works at maintaining rapport with peers and coworkers. Follows core values of Unity Health System.
  • Adheres to hospital departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains participation in continuing education and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of hospital certificate program.
  • New York State registry eligible in Radiologic Technology.

Required Licensure / Certification Skills:
NYS license in Radiologic Technology required OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $17.75 - $23.19

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
