UR Medicine Home Care Director of Pediatrics in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities Qualified individuals must be capable of performing the following essential duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to guide the Pediatric Home Care Program, in alignment with the organization's goals and mission.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to establish comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.

  • Conduct regular chart audits, quality assurance reviews, and performance improvement initiatives to maintain and enhance clinical excellence.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of pediatric nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in the program.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to staff, fostering their professional growth and ensuring the highest standards of care are met.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, open communication, and continuous learning within the program.

  • Ensures appropriate multidisciplinary communication, collaborative working relationships, and a culture of service excellence at all times.

  • Serve as a resource and advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs, concerns, and preferences are addressed throughout the care process.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with patients, families, and caregivers, promoting a compassionate and supportive care environment.

  • Stay abreast of advancements in pediatric home healthcare, incorporating evidence-based practices and emerging technologies into program development.

  • Participate in research initiatives, clinical collaborations, and professional networks to promote innovation and contribute to the advancement of pediatric home care.

Clinical Business Management Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the VP of Clinical Services to develop and grow the pediatric program to meet the needs of the patients, health care team members, and community providers.

  • Ensures that pediatric services provided are fiscally responsible and within accepted clinical standards. Responsible for ensuring that services provided are reimbursed by third party payers through close monitoring of authorization process.

  • Monitors and evaluates financial performance including budget preparation. Responsible for managing productivity, utilization, revenue and expenses.

  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team for strategic planning, department growth and improving pediatric healthcare outcomes.

  • Contributes to marketing efforts and serves as the primary spokesperson for the department.

  • Takes an active role in collaborating with URMC and Golisano Children’s hospital pediatric providers to ensure timely pediatric admissions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience - Applicants must possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience:

Education:

  • NYS licensed, currently Registered Professional Nurse and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.

  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program, or equivalent combination of an alternative Master’s degree and clinical experience, preferred.

Experience:

  • Expertise in high risk Pediatric populations in Home Care and experience in case management models.

  • Minimum of (5) years of demonstrated Pediatric leadership experience.

  • Ability to work with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Strong analytical skills to detect and analyze trends: clinical, financial, and programmatic.

  • Excellent working knowledge of regulatory standards and reimbursement issues in-home care.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Credential Requirements

  • NYS licensed, currently Registered Professional Nurse

  • Valid NY State Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Technical & Systems/Equipment Proficiencies

  • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly: Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • E-Record (electronic medical record systems)

  • Office equipment, such as computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines, as well as multi-line phone systems

  • Intranet/Internet

Work Environment

  • Travel (25%) throughout regions served.

  • Environmental settings will vary between patient homes, facilities, and office

Salary Range: $75,192 to $110,468.80
