Job Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities

Consultation

  • Provides counsel to HRBPs in the day-to-day implementation of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Consults and advises university leaders on interpretation of rules and regulations governing compensation, job evaluation results, market studies, and reorganizations.

Salary Review

  • Recommends and reviews proposed salary offers and off cycle adjustments for internal equity and conformance to established guidelines, policy, and practices. Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve problems; provides counsel for employment offers.

Salary Program

  • Assists in the planning, coordination, facilitation, and administration of the annual salary program for faculty and staff.

Job Evaluation

  • Analyzes and reviews job evaluation requests to determine FLSA classification and wage band for staff positions. Maintains job evaluation documentation.

Market/Job Studies

  • Conducts research, benchmarking, and analysis of data for market and job studies and reorganizations. Gathers data from variety of sources to prepare recommendations.

  • Submits data to compensation surveys, performs analysis and reporting on survey results.

Compliance

  • Ensures ongoing compliance with campus, local, state, and federal rules and regulations governing compensation.

Data/Technology/Process

  • Maintains and updates compensation data; consults with HRIS and HR Operations regarding data integrity and makes recommendations for system enhancements.

Training

  • Participates in the design and delivery of compensation presentations and training programs.

Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • 1 year of experience in human resources, data analysis, business analysis, or other related field.

  • Experience working with job architectures is strongly preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of data organization and analysis best practices.

  • Knowledge of enterprise wide systems.

  • Skill in Excel with demonstrated ability to use functions such as pivot tables, vlookup, and nested formulas.

  • Skill in data analysis and using data to drive decision making.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues

  • Ability to convince others to support a recommended course of action

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Knowledge of job analysis and job evaluation principles, methods and procedures preferred.

  • Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations preferred.

  • Knowledge of compensation administration principles and procedures preferred.

  • Skill in analytical visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
