University of Rochester Club Sport Coach I - Women's Club Volleyball Coach in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for coaching the University of Rochester’s Women’s Club Volleyball team in game strategies, techniques, and working towards the team’s overall success in preparation for athletic competition. This position will also serve as an asset to motivate girls in the appreciation and understanding of the sport of volleyball as well as influencing more focus/commitment within the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching:

  • Meet with captain(s) to discuss and plan drills and exercises for practice on an as-needed basis

  • Assess players’ skills and help to assign individual positions with the captain(s).

  • Attend practices at the beginning of each semester and before each tournament and help run drills alongside captain(s).

  • Establish game strategy based on the team’s capabilities with the consultation of the captain(s).

  • Help the team as a whole as well as individual players improve their volleyball skills as well as offer advice for improvement.

  • Observe players during competition and practice to determine who will have the opportunity to be able to go to the next tournament and the needs for individual or team improvement.

  • Represent non-discriminatory practices in all activities.

  • Help the captain(s) run a safe practice following health guidelines set by the school and local community

Other:

  • Maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.

  • The coach needs to maintain consistency and must be understanding, firm, insightful, adaptable, and flexible with the team and its needs.

  • Discuss any decisions made for the team with the captains before making changes.

  • Allow captain(s) to have the final say in all decisions made for the team with the understanding that captain(s) will always take the coach’s opinion into consideration and discussion beforehand.

  • Undergo necessary and appropriate human resource training required by the university in order to be eligible for coaching.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Substantial volleyball experience required.

  • Collegiate volleyball experience preferred

  • Exceptional Leadership Skills required.

  • Ability to communicate constructively and effectively required.

  • Strong Planning and Organization required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $17.43 - $24.40 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
