Job Description
AECOM's Roanoke, VA. office has an opening for an Electrical Specialist IV to work on various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, Municipal, Federal Civilian and DoD, Healthcare, Mission Critical, and Higher Education.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Serve as the electrical discipline representative on projects.
Meet with clients and prepares technical presentations while maintaining good client relations.
Complete electrical power, grounding, lightning protection and lighting designs for projects of all sizes.
Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.
Produce technical documents such as one-line diagrams, Panelboard Layouts, floor plans, Equipment layouts and sectional views.
Prepare technical specifications.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Perform technical quality reviews of drawings, calculations, and specifications, grounding and Lightning Protection system design.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning. Perform submittal reviews, answer RFI’s, etc.
Attend project meetings.
Mentor developing engineers and designers.
Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience or high school diploma/GED and 10 years of relevant experience
Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.
Valid US Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of electrical design experience
Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD
Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software (SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower)
Willingness to travel occasionally
Experienced in application of National Electrical Code
Experienced in application of National Electrical Safety Code
Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes
Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings
Ability to switch between working on multiple/different projects daily

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $150,000.00.
