By accelerating our programmes, we not only reduce lifetime costs but also ensure the safety and regulatory compliance essential to the efficient minimisation of waste volumes destined for long-term storage or disposal. Our proactive approach positions us at the forefront of the industry, leading with advanced solutions that address these complex challenges.

We are seeking a Principal Consultant to join our well-established Global Radioactive Waste Management capability. We need a dynamic, self-motivated candidate with established technical expertise, interdisciplinary skills, and a client-focused mindset.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a variety of consultancy projects in radioactive waste management, catering to clients including utilities, waste management organisations, engineering firms and regulators.

  • Provide expert consulting services to address challenges in Management of Hazardous Materials, Nuclear Safety, and Radioactive Waste Management and Disposal.

  • Advise on Waste Acceptance, Waste Characterisation, Optimisation, Option Assessment, Storage, Repositories, and deliver overarching strategic guidance.

  • Lead expert option studies and/or act as an independent consultant to identify blockers and determine potential for optimisation.

  • You will be embedded within the client’s organisation and will be the primary contact for the clients in radioactive waste related matters, and will leverage the extensive expertise and resources available from our international teams across our organisation.

  • Hold, build and maintain robust relationships with clients and stakeholders.

  • Engage in advisory and business development activities, including value proposition development and strategic growth initiatives.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Solid background in radioactive waste management and related technical fields.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ proven experience ideally across the Decommissioning, Waste Management and Disposal global markets.

  • Strong understanding of the markets, stakeholders, opportunities, and long-term direction.

  • Degree in Physical Science, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering, or a related field. Higher degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in English is key requirement.

  • Proactive, adaptable, and innovative, capable of working on diverse projects.

  • Essential qualities include being organised, dynamic, self-motivated, and driven, coupled with excellent communication skills, as the role requires independently leading and developing agreed-upon activities.

  • Excellent report writing, technical review skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong task management skills coupled with commercial acumen.

  • A proven track record in proposal writing, client engagement and understanding of (or ability to learn) relationship-based sales process.

  • Effective at stakeholder management and influencing others.
