Job Description:

Discover will not sponsor or transfer employment work visas for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Scopes and executes risk assessments in the Enterprise Data Management and Data Ecosystem organizations. Assesses operational risk for data intake process, data management, data governance, data quality, critical data elements, metadata, data lineage processes. Reviews Operational Risk Events and supports assessment, updates to senior manager and reporting of the ORE events. Monitors and reviews data operational risk KRIs and reports on breaches or elevated risk levels. Maintains good relationship with business stakeholders and Business Risk Officers in the organization. Effectively challenges issues, RCSAs, controls, 1 LOD Monitoring plans, KRIs while supporting the business to maintain operational risk in the acceptable levels and risk appetite of the organization. Reporting and quantitative/qualitative analysis with medium to advanced Excel skills and other tools strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Executes the risk-based approach to independent risk assessments and oversight for the business Ensure effective oversight of the business and leverages the results from NFRM Testing COE to drive an effective risk and control environment for the business.

  • Execute operational risk advisory and effective challenge for programs across the Non-Financial Risk Programs.

  • Participate in and engage with business leaders in governance to help drive a culture of effective risk management.

  • Updates status reports of program initiatives, activities, and non-financial risks to management and committees and escalate concerns and successes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration and management

  • 6 + years of Law, Risk, or Operations experience

  • 3 + years of experience in first or second-line risk, control, or compliance role in a highly regulated financial institution subject to Heightened Standards.

  • In Lieu of Education Experience 10 + years of risk management experience in a highly regulated financial/depository environment with specific focus on operational risk management, internal audit, or related

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 + years of risk management experience in a financial environment with specific focus on operational risk management or internal audit or related.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $88,500.00 to $149,300.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
