Job Description:

Discover will not sponsor or transfer employment work visas for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsible for maintaining and enhancing department or functional units in support of the overall compliance program components. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Additionally, the position assists with the preparation and follow-up activity associated with regulatory, internal audits, and other third-party, on-site examinations. Works under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and enhances department or functional units in support of the overall compliance program components.

  • Assists with researching regulatory compliance requirements and evaluating the adequacy of business policies, procedures, training and reference materials, system, and manual processes.

  • Assists with the identification and assessment of compliance program risks and controls.

  • Supports management in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs and a culture of compliance.

  • Assists with the preparation of status reports of program initiatives, activities, and compliance issues to management and committees.

  • Keeps up to date with regulations, regulatory exam requirements and regulatory guidance.

  • Interacts with internal stakeholders, internal/external auditors and external regulators to review and clarify requests, provide effective challenge.

  • Assists BRIC and Business Unit Leadership in regulatory exam, internal audit, and compliance review preparation and management.

  • Assists in managing tasks and executing responses to regulatory exams, internal and external audits.

  • Reviews documentation in response to regulatory exams, internal and external audit requests.

  • Oversees timely completion of remediation projects.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, law, risk management, or related field

  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in compliance, law, risk management, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we’d also look for:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Security, Law, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Risk

  • 8+ years of experience in compliance, law, risk management, or related field

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager

  • JD, CISA, CIPP, CRMP, PMP, RIMS, or similar license/certification

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $88,500.00 to $149,300.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
