Cogent's Velocity Pump Rental Division, a growing company serving the contractor, municipal, and industrial markets providing dewatering systems is looking for anOutside Sales Representative to cover a new regional territory in Western Nebraska. We are seeking a self-sufficient, driven, and successful outside salesperson to identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our market presence.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Generate profitable sales revenue by renting pumps and providing engineered pumping solutions for either short-term or long-term projects for the purpose of moving fluid

  • Establishes new rental accounts through phone calls and in-person visits to potential customers

  • Builds, develops, and grows client and vendor business relationships vital to the success of the rental business

  • Present turnkey services to potential customers

  • Ensures project plans and updates are well communicated to clients and internal staff

  • Maintains knowledge of all rental products, pricing, terms, sales, and policies

Education / Experience

  • Associate’s, Vocational, or Bachelor's degree in Mechanics, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management preferred

  • Three years minimum experience with B2B direct sales within the equipment industry preferred

  • Previous experience in the rental industry is a plus

  • Pump equipment background is highly desirable

  • Experience selling a product with a service element

  • Beneficial to have previous experience in construction management as a foreman or superintendent

  • Strong business development and customer retention skills

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • A strong working knowledge in rentals, customer service, and sales techniques

  • Proven track record of success in outside sales, preferably within the construction or related industries.

  • A strong network of contacts in the construction and contractor sectors.

  • Self-motivated, with a drive for hard work and achieving results.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage your territory effectively.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize, and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to elicit cooperation and defuse tension, if necessary

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
