Job Description Summary

The Assembly Process Specialist is a key knowledge source to ensure the ongoing development of business processes and people. Responsibility focusing on the assembly methodologies across all platforms and component types whilst also being considerate of complementary requirements e.g. tooling & fixturing, testing etc. Role will operate as an approachable, engaging, proactive and supportive knowledge source to ensure impact translates to the wider team.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Identification and ongoing review of core skill/knowledge requirements to sustain effective, efficient and compliant business

  • Act as the subject matter expert status on key processes, responsibility for defining and maintaining a network of appropriately knowledgeable sources (internal & external) to support business

  • Mentoring and development of MEs and appropriate functions to ensure relevant capabilities are attained

  • Review, assessment and due diligence on externally utilised resources to validate competency & alignment to business requirement

  • Identification & incorporation of applicable industry best practice into processes and approaches

  • Active participation and, where appropriate, ownership in the resolution of key business process issues through the deployment of demonstrated technical solutions

  • Identify and reduce product quality issues and production issues by facilitating/deploying appropriate problem-solving techniques, utilizing and developing data streams to perform analysis and implement robust solutions

  • Ensuring processes contribute to a safe working environment and meet EHS requirements. Actively support EHS projects and pursuits

  • Advocate for GE business processes & rigor whilst continually looking for opportunity to develop and implement improvements

  • Review and maintenance of appropriate QMS elements/documents as required

  • Key contributor to the attainment & retention of process qualification & technical accreditations. e.g. Nadcap Partner with peer group(s), to actively develop and refine common engineering approaches and control costing. standard times, standard sequencing, resource group alignment, document management etc.

  • Support New Technology Initiatives (NTI), ensuring portfolio of projects tackles both short-term and long-term opportunities. Justify capital investment where applicable

  • Support product development programs to ensure solutions are leading edge, whilst deployable within the facility

  • Define, enable and implement proactive systems in alignment with AS9145 framework strategically across business and applied on critical parts/processes to reduce the potential of failure

  • Participate in local and site wide initiatives and projects

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing engineering process and methodologies

  • Good personnel development skills including coaching, mentoring and team engagement.

  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills, including stakeholder management

  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments & priorities and achieve results

  • Highly effective problem-solving skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Fluent in Italian and intermediate English level

  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing engineering process and methodologies within the aviation domain

  • In-depth knowledge of emerging technologies, including digital tools, relevant to the aviation industry and on-site processes

  • Positive approach to challenging situations
