The Host is to immediately interact with our guests by warmly greeting them upon arriving to dine at our restaurant. Hosts are responsible for positive guest interactions by quickly being attentive to their seating requests in a professional, friendly, and efficient manner. As a Host, it is his/her responsibility to make sure our guests are delighted in their visit and leave with the best guest experience possible, inviting them to return.

Essential Functions:

  • Warmly meets and greets all guests upon arrival.

  • Presents menus to guests, informs guests of restaurant specials and of servers name.

  • When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party.

  • Provide guests with estimated waiting time.

  • Run floor plan board and seat guests fairly and/or by special request, accurately recording reservation information.

  • Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.

  • Relay messages to servers and bussers as needed.

  • Answer phone; respond to guests questions in person or by phone.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

General Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.

  • Must be able to work unsupervised.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours, 100% of the time).

  • Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed.

  • Food handler permit required upon hire.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a fast-paced restaurant setting. The noise level is usually moderate to high. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to: Slipping, tripping, and falls.


Physical or Environmental Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

This position requires constant standing. All positions may require constant, frequent, or occasional: standing, walking, lifting, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is an hourly position. Scheduled hours vary by restaurant needs, including necessary adjustments made during high and low seasonal changes. Typical days and hours of work for this position are Monday-Sunday 5am-10pm or later (varying shifts). Other days/hours and holidays required as needed or assigned.


Required Experience:

Restaurant industry experience preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of relevant food safety and sanitation laws, principles, procedures, and practices.


Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment drug screening.

  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.


Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, interpret general business rules and technical procedures.

Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information and respond to questions from management and team members.


Other (Secondary) Responsibilities:

­­Assist with other restaurant functions including other assigned duties as needed. Must be able to fill in as needed.
