Kelly Services Associate Quality Technician in Ringwood, Illinois

Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Associate Quality Technician (Night Shift 7 pm - 7 am on a 2-2-3 schedule) for a Long Term Contract opportunity in Ringwood, IL.

Hourly pay is $23-25 an hour depending on years of experience

Associate Quality Technician: Executes quality tasks and activities within a manufacturing environment, as defined in established procedures, to enable the business to profitably meet customer and product regulatory requirements related to the quality management system. Helps promote a customer-focused culture within the plant and enhances the front-line knowledge and accountability for quality. Requires established basic technical skills to perform a range of routine work activities using existing processes and methods.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine quality control testing in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Accurately/neatly record all lab results in accordance with departmental procedures, including communication of results, problems, and priorities to Production and other affected parties.

  • Maintain equipment and instruments in proper working order through conformance to acceptable maintenance, operating and calibration procedures and escalate problems as appropriate.

  • Assist troubleshooting quality and plant process problems using root cause investigations, analytical testing, etc.

  • Ensure product returns and non-conforming product are appropriately managed to prevent unintended use, including disposition.

  • Support routine day-to-day implementation and maintenance tasks related to the plant quality system.

  • Support plant-level management of change activities related to product quality.

  • Monitor effectiveness of the plant's quality management system and support strategic improvement opportunities.

  • Support product quality problem solving efforts through execution of data mining, traceability investigations and batch reviews.

  • Ensure plant Operating Discipline systems, procedures and guidelines are improved and optimized to meet plant and business quality system requirements, as appropriate.

  • Comply with all departmental procedures as well as site rules and safety requirements.

  • Actively participate in EH&S training, safety meetings and EH&S projects and initiatives.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Notify supervision of all injuries, illnesses, spills and other safety incidents immediately.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • General Housekeeping, participation on LEAN projects, Paint activities etc.

  • Maintain routine supplies in work area.

  • Provide shift coverage as needed during personnel shortages.

  • Other duties as requested by management.

Critical Success Factors (requirements):

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts (7pm-7am). Some rotation may be required.

  • Must be available to work overtime as needed.

  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends as needed.

  • Must be able to understand and carry out instructions concerning standardized or non- standardized requirements, methods and procedures.

  • Escalate issues, provide ideas for fixing the problem and be part of the solution.

  • Must be able to understand and follow all plant safety and security rules and regulations.

  • Must be able to recognize hazards and avoid creating hazards to himself/herself, fellow employees, the general public and the environment.

  • Must have ability to do math calculations and read process instructions and material safety data sheets.

  • Must be safety-minded and have good housekeeping habits.

  • Must have sufficient judgment to ask questions when in doubt regarding procedures or instructions.

  • Must actively work to improve the safety performance of fellow employees by giving and receiving feedback on safety.

Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma, equivalent, plus laboratory, manufacturing or other related experience.

  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

  • Must be able to calculate various measurements using basic math skills.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to manually lift and handle a nominal weight of 25kgs (55lbs).

  • Have no known sensitivity or history of skin or respiratory allergies to dust, dirt, or chemicals to which there may be workplace exposure if an allergic reaction could create a safety or health hazard.

  • Must be able to wear required protective clothing & equipment.

  • Required to stand up to 50% of working day with frequent walking, intermittent stopping and bending while operating equipment, climb stairs and ladders.
