We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Product Development Engineer to help support our Home Furniture Componentsbusiness. Our Home Furniture business brings an intense focus on the customer, innovation, world-class manufacturing capabilities, and a global footprint together to create full-package solutions for the industry. As Product Development Engineer, you will drive the application of developed technologies, materials, and concepts to deliver new products.
So, what will you be doing as a Product Development Engineer?
Execute product design steps following core engineering practices and discipline
Use project plan definitions to deliver solutions for critical success factors in a cross functional project management environment
Release design documentation to communicate product and component design requirements
Partner with R&D resources supporting new technology development activities
Support product prototyping processes
Support product validation processes
Research, investigate, and drive cutting edge thinking to pursue industry innovative products, processes, and technology
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Science, Materials or related relevant experience will be considered.
3+ years of design experience in a component or product development environment
Experience designing consumer products preferred.
Experience applying technologies to create products consisting of multiple, integrated subsystems
Experience with CAD tools; 3D modeling and FEA experience preferred
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
Ability to apply analytical problem solving practices for solutioning design related product elements
Ability to turn stated design requirements into designed solutions; communicated with CAD or similar tools
Generation of analytical models, simulation, or test results
Review created samples to ensure design requirements have been met
Ability to support product assurance process design and execution
Communication with sales, marketing, and product development functions at all levels
Ability to communicate with external customers & product designers
