Our client, a Fortune 500 financial enterprise is seeking a System Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, be an individual contributor , and also a team player which will align successfully in the organization.

What’s the Job?

• Provide technical support for the IBM z/VM operating system.

• Participate in the design, development, and implementation of systems engineering activities.

• Responsible for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities.

• Serve as a seasoned technical resource, providing technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member and individual contributor.

• Perform performance and tuning using Velocity Tools, and handle general z/VM problem determination and corrective actions.

What’s Needed?

• Expertise in general z/VM configuration, including network (TCP/IP and FTP).

• Familiarity with IBM Service Request (IBM Link), ordering and installing maintenance/RSU (Shop Z and VM/SES).

• Experience with operating system version upgrades and coding/maintaining custom systems utilities and exits (REXX and CMS Pipes).

• Experience building z/VM guest systems (z/OS and Linux) and supporting Linux on Z virtual servers.

• Proficiency in technical writing, process mapping, and assembler programming.
