Old Dominion Brush Company LLC (ODB) is accepting applications to fill the position of Mechanical Assembler in the Assembly department in Richmond, Virginia. Our Parent Company is Alamo Group.

Position Summary:

Under moderate to direct supervision, the Mechanical Assembler installs parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or by following manuals and diagrams. Uses hand tools, power wrenches, gauges, and power tools to perform operations on the assembly line.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Installs hydraulic and electrical components.

  • Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, spaced clips, rivets, cotter pins or other fasteners using hand tools and portable power pneumatic tools (i.e. impact wrench).

  • Positions and bolts engine block components to truck body using wrenches, hammer, and power hoist.

  • Bolts subassemblies, power module, fan housing, set fan clearance to engine, using torque wrench and other hand tools.

  • May operate drills, riveting machines or hydraulic crimping machine to assist in assembly operation.

  • Identify and distribute parts to proper location.

  • May run test of assemblies to verify proper assembly of unit.

  • May operate forklift and crane/hoist.

  • Required to accurately record work order information and inventory transactions.

  • All Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use both powered and hand tools.

  • Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.

  • Manual dexterity; mechanically inclined and good eye/hand coordination.

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED certificated preferred.

  • 1 to 8 years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably in a similar environment.

  • Must be able to provide own tool kit (socket set, wrenches (standard and metric), screwdrivers) and storage.

Working Conditions:

  • Use hands or fingers to handle or feel

  • Lift, pull and push up to 50 pounds without assistance

  • Stand on a concrete surface

  • Walk on a concrete surface

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Climb up to 8 feet

  • Lift, pull and push 51 to 100 pounds with assistance

  • Work around fumes or airborne particles

  • Work with toxic or caustic chemicals

Position has the following vision requirements:

  • Close vision

  • Ability to distinguish colors and shades of color

  • Ability to adjust focus

Work is performed in a loud manufacturing environment.

Notes:

Machinery used includes forklift and power tools (impact driver), RF scanner.
