Amentum Industrial Janitor Supervisor (2nd Shift) in Richmond, Virginia

Amentum is looking for an Industrial Janitor Supervisor to join our team in Richmond, VA at an industrial facility.

The Industrial Janitor Supervisor will provide the cleaning staff with general daily pass downs from the previous shift as well as any safety communications and the daily stretch program for all the shift staff before the beginning of each workday. The Working Supervisor will be assigned a designated area and will be responsible for the upkeep of an assigned area.

The Industrial Janitor Supervisor will conduct inspections and follow up for any corrective actions for all areas assigned to the staff for their assigned shift.

Typical Hours: Monday-Friday 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM; hours may vary based on business demands.

Hiring salary range: $45,000 + (salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

Daily duties and responsibilities:

  • Cleans and maintains buildings and facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash.

  • Notifies manager concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc.

  • Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.

  • Remain flexible and prepared to complete all tasks that are assigned.

  • Performs area inspections to ensure all contractual obligations are met and service levels are met or exceed customer expectations.

  • Holds a daily huddle with staff at start of shift to communicate priorities and work assigned and communicate results of inspections.

  • Exhibits model dependability, hard work, strong ethics, and professional appearance.

  • Provides direction, training, and support to the cleaning staff.

  • Performs cleaning tasks in the assigned area, as needed.

  • Schedules coverage in absence of staff when needed.

  • Follows up on customer complaints and maintains a good customer relationship.

  • Schedules and coordinates janitorial projects, i.e.: floors, carpets, etc.

  • Understands and applies workplace and job site safety, including safety policies and procedures (SDS, OSHA).

  • Determines materials, supplies and equipment needs and submit to manager for approval.

  • Identifies and reacts to staff development and training gaps.

  • Identifies and solves problems and escalates to manager when necessary.

  • Addresses tardiness and attendance issues with progressive counseling.

  • Interviews potential employees and makes recommendations for hire.

  • Inspects equipment for cleanliness and repair, tag out equipment when needed, and reports needed repairs to manager.

  • Drives vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to other facilities to clean, which includes: vans, industrial trucks, golf carts, and industrial vacuum cleaners.

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in industrial or commercial cleaning.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety policies and procedures (SDS, OSHA).

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • Ability to work an alternative schedule to include weekends and some holidays.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility/security credentials/ authorization. Note: US citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • May require a valid driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. (https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/)

Some Physical/Special requirements include:

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach and wrist movement

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

  • Regularly lift up to 30 lbs

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to color coded microfiber cleaning clothes and mops

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and /or the work environment

Preferred Requirements

  • Bilingual preferred (Proficient in English and Spanish)
