The Cigna Group Chief of Staff (Senior Advisor), Workforce Management & Strategy Analytics - Evernorth - Hybrid in Richmond, Virginia

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief of Staff provides counsel and advice to top management on significant Business Project Management matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. Leads mid-sized time-limited project or components of a larger project and directs one or more teams of business consultants involved in the evaluation of systems requirements and/or the development of new procedures/processes/or policy solutions to address highly complex business needs. May also assess impact and implications from a cost, efficiency, contractual, legal and/or regulatory standpoint. Determines requirements, plans projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress. Identifies and exposes the business opportunities and implications of re-engineering projects. Identifies and facilitates process design changes and executes process improvement initiatives. Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing business processes and develops sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements. Provides measurement support (i.e. development, reporting, validation and improvement). May coordinate with other project managers. Actions have significant impact on key Department objectives. Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the most complex Business Project Management assignments.

This position is in-office aligned and will require the flexibility to perform onsite 3 days per week at a designated Cigna facility.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Providing direct support to the Managing Director, Workforce Management & Strategy Analytics (MD) while coordinating across the leadership team, the Chief of Staff will play a critical role driving effectiveness and efficiency across the organization’s landscape.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Supporting the Workforce Management & Strategy Analytics MD to drive critical initiatives – ensuring on-time delivery.

  • Accountable to own and deliver key requests and initiatives in support of this MD’s organization. Acts as a connector within this organization and across the enterprise to ensure an enterprise approach to solving our most critical business challenges and identifying opportunities for leverage and value creation.

  • Leading/coordinating across the Workforce Management & Strategy Analytics organization to connect management processes, key initiatives and other endeavors.

This role is responsible for establishing and leading, cross-functional strategic project initiatives. The successful incumbent will serve as a “force multiplier” by increasing the effectiveness and success of the Workforce Management & Strategy Analytics Senior Leadership Team across the organization and Cigna's enterprise. Candidate will also be self-motivated, detail oriented, and have a willingness to adapt to strategic and tactical needs in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Role Components:

Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with the immediate senior leadership team and with leaders across the enterprise on all aspects of day to day execution for the Managing Director of Workforce Management & Strategy Analytics to ensure alignment on execution against the most critical initiatives across the enterprise and measures of success.

  • Monitors information flow; sometimes acting as a gatekeeper ensuring the involvement of the MD in a project or decision-making process at the right moment.

Management Process: Supports management process; responsible for ongoing implementation, adherence, revisions, etc. Prepare agendas for team meetings / off-sites and facilitate governance for the Managing Director. Partners closely with the Administrative Assistant to understand upcoming meetings and helps to pull together materials in advance of sessions. Responsible for creating the strategy and executing extended leadership team meetings, town halls, and other meeting forums across the team.

  • Communications: Partners very closely with Business Communications team and HR Business Partner on content delivery and overall communication strategy for the organization.

  • Project Management: Strong analytical skills, project management skills and innovative thinking; problem solver

  • Integrative Thinking: Ability to connect context and information across multiple areas to proactively assess various situations and take appropriate actions.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA preferred.

  • 7+ years’ relevant program/project management experience.

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a large, complex operational environment.

  • Emotional Intelligence - Demonstrated strong EQ as evidenced by the ability to understand other people, what motivates them and how to work cooperatively with them. Proven track record of resilience, empathy, strong listening skills and the ability to work through challenging business situation in a highly collaborative way to drive the right business outcomes.   • Offsite coordination / meeting management / minutes / action tracking and follow up - Assist to coordinate, schedule and facilitate team meetings (both virtual and onsite). Development and adherence to agendas, documentation of takeaways and action plans.
