Security Specialist – Cyber Defence Operations

Job Description:

Join our team to monitor and investigate security events, identifying potential attacks and taking action. Analyze security logs to spot and resolve incidents. Manage security incidents from start to finish, adhering to CDO policies. Ensure diligent and timely monitoring of all Security Systems and Consoles.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Ops Team:

Join our Security Ops team where you'll have the freedom to explore different aspects of security operations during incidents. This supportive model is designed to foster learning, development, and teamwork without overwhelming you with responsibilities. All you need is a willingness to step out of your comfort zone.

Skills You'll Develop:

Expand your expertise in OS internals, cloud security/incident response (AWS, Azure), web application security (OWASP), forensics (Windows, Memory, Mac, Linux, network packet analysis), threat hunting (SIEM, Qradar, ArcSight, Splunk, SumoLogic, defender KQI/Sentinel), and networking skills. Learn Python and PowerShell for further growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Willing to work the sun model shifts (flexible)

• 3-5 years in a security role (cloud and publication realm)

• Bachelor’s degree

• Ability to read and understand code (JavaScript, batch, PHP) and a desire to learn Python

and PowerShell

• Manage day-to-day monitoring, escalation, and incident response

• Respond to and manage cyber-attacks, malware, and active threats

• Ensure security and operational controls are followed to protect client data

• Assist in setting standards for and implementing event logging and monitoring tools

• Resolve or escalate events, threats, and incidents as per procedures

• Contribute to the development of team methodologies, standards, tools, and approaches

• Stay updated on the threat landscape through participation in security groups, forums, or

conferences

The compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, education, and experience. Certain provinces in Canada require job postings to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range applicable to the role.

For this role, in those locations, the target salary range for new hires is: $84,500.00 to $128,000.00.

In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either a bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, commission plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates. The range listed is just one component of the Sage total compensation package.
