We are looking for a Power Systems Consultant to join Grid Software’s Power Technologies International (PTI) team. This role is critical to the planning and integration of renewables, storage, and FACTS to the electrical grid. This is a remote position based in Canada.

What will you do?

  • Performs transmission planning through the application of power systems planning principles to simulate and analyze the power system steady state and dynamic behavior

  • Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations.

  • Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule.

  • Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (specialization in Power and Energy Systems an asset)

  • Practical experience in using advanced power system analysis tools.

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in the electric power industry. Advanced degree and internships MAY be substituted for experience.

  • Candidate must have knowledge (experience, coursework or applicable internship) of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow, dynamic stability, and electromagnetic transients.

  • Can discuss findings clearly via reports and presentations.

  • Great written and spoken communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Practical familiarity with using advanced power system analysis tools (i.e. PSS ® E, PSS ® SINCAL, TARA, ASPEN, PowerWorld or PSLF)

  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Python is preferred.

  • Prior experience in Power System Consulting.

  • Transmission system planning or operations experience in MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM

  • Industry experience performing distribution planning and/or production costing considered a plus
