Job Responsibilities/Duties

Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) seeks a Technical Specialist – Conduct of Operations Coach. The individual holding this senior position is responsible for ensuring that WRPS and subcontractor Work Group Supervisors and Responsible Managers, among others, have a solid understanding of Conduct of Operations, Human Performance Improvement (HPI), Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), Radiological Controls and the Work Control Program, and that they have the tools (training, briefings, and coaching) to apply these programs to their daily activities in a safe, consistent, and effective manner.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform a Conduct of Operations coaching/mentoring role with individuals directly responsible for the management, supervision, and performance of field work activities for all WRPS projects.

  • Develop and administer Conduct of Operations and HPI training to WRPS operations and support staff.

  • Facilitate the incorporation of feedback received during coaching sessions into procedural and process improvements to strengthen implementation of DOE Order 422.1 requirements at the Tank Farms, 242-A, and Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF).

  • Perform (in a hands-on-approach) a coaching role with individuals directly responsible for the management, supervision, and execution of field work activities for all WRPS projects to ensure proper disciplined Conduct of Operations and appropriate HPI tool usage.

  • Facilitate incorporation of continuous improvement feedback provided during coaching sessions into process, procedures, and training.

  • Participate in Management Self-Assessments of ISMS, Operations, and Radiological Operations.

  • Participate in the Management Observation Program (MOP).

  • Perform Senior Supervisory Watch (SSW) of high-risk work and first-time evolutions as required to support mission.

  • Provide Conduct of Operations, HPI and ISMS-related training and briefings to WRPS personnel responsible for the management and supervision of field work activities.

  • Qualify as an instructor to support Conduct of Operations Simulator at HAMMER.

  • Support HPI Lab with content development and session facilitation.

  • Prepare Management Observation Program (MOP) reports on the status of field work coaching activities for presentation to Conduct of Operations Council.

  • Support development and monitoring of Conduct of Operations and HPI performance indicators.

Required Qualifications

Grade 20:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline and a minimum of 10 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and years' experience.

Grade 21:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline and a minimum of 12 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and years' experience.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Desired Qualifications

  • Hanford Tank Farms experience preferred.

  • DOE experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Grade 20:

Hiring Range Minimum: $126,025

Hiring Range Maximum: $158,875

Grade 21:

Hiring Range Minimum: $138,700

Hiring Range Maximum: $174,900

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
