As an Experienced Materials Engineer in Richland, WA, you will be part of the proven team in the Fuel Design Business Line in the Fuel Business Unit. You will be responsible for supporting the design, development, manufacturing, and licensing of metallic, ceramic, and composite materials. Your work will include: Develop out-of-pile and irradiation testing programs to support research and development of innovative materials for commercial reactor applications. Define and support post-irradiation and hot cell examinations of irradiated fuel components to evaluate product performance, support model development and licensing activities, and elucidate irradiated material behaviors. Participation and collaboration with various industry research groups and universities supporting fuel performance and reliability of the international LWR fleet. Prepare and review design specifications, calculation files, test requirements and associated reports. Support internal and supplier manufacturing activities, establish product and process requirements and collaborating on improvements. Providing Material Engineering support and participate in active collaboration with utility customers for the implementation of new products, responding to customer inquiries, and performing engineering justifications for emergent events. Participate in and support interfaces with customer and regulatory authorities to obtain regulatory approval of new materials, designs, and codes and methods. Perform calculations and analyses of complex material behaviors to demonstrate compliance with design and licensing criteria.
