onsemi Physical Verification Engineer – IO Development in Richardson, Texas

You’ll have the opportunity to work with a team of engineers developing quality IO libraries that interface ASIC applications with the real world. This position needs a person with a solid background in Physical layout, Physical Verification, and Place and Route automation.

Performance Objectives

The successful candidate will:

  1. Understand physical views used in the industry today: DFii/GDS/CDL/LEF

  2. Understand physical tools used in the industry today: Virtuoso/Calibre/DRC/LVS/APaR

  3. Understand trade-offs for physical view development techniques for better silicon operation

  4. Understand how to generate and validate physical views that are useable in APaR tools

  5. Be coachable in coming up to speed and contributing to current workflows and automation

  6. Participate and support team members in their work and production needs

  7. Manage your work to accomplish the tasks needed for maintaining production schedules

  8. Provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to other team members where possible

  9. Communicate detailed information needed for quality work throughout the production cycle

  10. Perform other duties as required

About You

  • 3-5 years of physical layout, verification, and place-n-route experience

  • Have a strong desire to learn and contribute to an important role in onsemi ASIC development

  • Able to work with a group of engineers inside and outside of the country

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or possess significant related experience

  • Ability to be mentored by and help others learn in a positive team development roll

  • Ability to automate tasks to raise standards of excellence in product release quality

  • Able to work in the US and travel if necessary

  • Experienced in generating and verifying IP across multiple industry standard tools

  • Familiarity with Linux OS used to run development and verification environment

  • Experience with understanding pros and cons in how IP layout views interact with P&R tools

  • Significant technical expertise in the following areas:

  • Cadence Virtuoso for generation of physical layout views

  • Calibre DRC/LVS/ERC/DFM for verification of layout views

  • LEF generation for AP&R tool use in chip level physical design

  • Understanding of scripting for automation of tasks
