Summary

The Enterprise Insights department is responsible for delivering customer led actionable insights that shape the general understanding of Consumers, Customers and Competitive intelligence throughout the organization, influencing tactical business activities, as well as strategic and forward-thinking brand initiatives. This includes understanding the voice of the customer through qualitative and quantitative research, evaluating BBW performance relative to the competition, market sizing of new and existing categories, assessing macro trends and tracking of the brand’s equity and perceptions.

The Senior Analyst role focusing on Competitive Intelligence is responsible for driving analytic projects and key deliverables that serve various parts of the business. This hands-on-analytic position will be expected to pull, analyze, and generate actionable data-driven insights and growth opportunities that will help influence business decisions. This includes advanced thinking for developing analytic approaches, delivering accurate and comprehensive insights, synthesizing data from multiple sources, internal and external, having intimate knowledge of BBW and the competitive landscape, understanding customer purchasing behaviors and developing implications for the business. Top-level, polished communication is required to deliver insights across all levels of the organization to help drive the overall brand forward through strategic and forward-looking thinking.

In this role, you will be able to:

  • Connect the dots between industry trends to Bath & Body Works strategy.

  • Influence product development to help drive innovation and growth across the business through trends, analysis and consumer behavior.

  • Display expertise on close-in competitors, retailers and brands.

  • Influence business decisions to help drive key seasonal and promotional events by analyzing promotional strategies, DE&I occasions, messaging, and timing.

  • Project manage and lead initiatives that cut across competitive intelligence & customer research teams and other cross functional partners.

  • Be a trusted strategic advisor with influence to drive business growth based on data & customer driven insights.

Responsibilities

Advanced Analytic Skills: Demonstrate ability to analyze multiple sources of data, interpret data and translate it into meaningful insights and recommendations.

  • Responsible for pulling, analyzing, and delivering accurate and comprehensive first-class approaches to market sizing, market share, category performance, to best support the business.

  • Ability to manipulate large data sets in vendor platforms, excel, and other tools necessary to perform analysis.

  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into analytical approaches.

  • Deliver synthesized insights on macro environment, trends, retail news, our customers, consumers, and competitors to encourage new thinking or new behaviors that will lead to growth, innovation, profitability, and market share gains.

  • Triangulation of primary and secondary research with point-of-sale data.

  • Demonstrates the ability to blend data with product and cultural trends.

  • Proactively identify category and regional opportunities and risks, and craft strategic, relevant recommendations to accelerate the business’s growth.

Vendor Partnerships: Manage syndicated vendor relationships (Circana, Mintel, WGSN, Mastercard, Statista etc.), maintain strong relationships, enhancing their output and value.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of vendor capabilities and data assets.

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day vendor partnerships including submission of POs, optimization of platform usage and ensuring project work is completed accurately and on time.

  • Sniff tests data to ensure accuracy.

  • Use vendor partnerships to open up the boundaries on analytical capabilities.

Strategic Thinking: Demonstrate comprehensive thinking, strategic agility, and leadership.

  • Conduct market analysis, analyze internal data and provide actionable data recommendations that will help inform short and long term strategies, business planning and decision making.

  • Arm the organization with a comprehensive view of the competitive landscape, customer behavior and the voice of the customer.

  • Support key cross functional partners articulating and elevating their insights needs by identifying the right analytical solutions and approaches to address business questions, gaps and/or opportunities.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in consumer-packaged-goods company, merchandising/retail, consulting, or syndicated data providers.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with third party vendors including Circana, Mintel, Nielsen, WGSN, Global Data, Statista, etc., including experience with scan/POS, panel, loyalty data, customer data, etc, with proven ability to connect the dots with macro, cultural, retail and product trends.

  • Strategic thought partner with strong analytical skills and ability to translate insights into relevant implications.

  • Strong knowledge of marketing and market research fundamentals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or GSuite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and/or BI Tools (Microstrategy, Tableau). Expert in generating reports from relational databases.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills within all levels of the business, including influence and leader engagement.

  • Team player, reliable, committed, collaborative, active listener, problem solver and flexible

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast, high-energy environment; ability to multitask will be a key to success

  • Ability to manage multiple and competing demands/projects and deliver against aggressive goals as owner of projects

  • Rigorous attention to detail.

Education

  • BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Strategy or related field or equivalent experience.

  • MBA preferred but not required.
