Job Summary:

The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Windows server infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of customer server environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Windows server administration, monitoring, virtualization technologies, cloud platforms, security remediation, vulnerability analysis, and strong troubleshooting skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Windows server environments, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

  2. Manage and administer virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and VMware.

  3. Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure maximum uptime.

  4. Implement and maintain security measures to protect server infrastructure from potential threats and vulnerabilities.

  5. Manage server backups and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.

  6. Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate server infrastructure with network, storage, and application systems.

  7. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of server operations.

  8. Provide technical guidance and support to junior members of the IT team.

  9. Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes.

  10. Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system emergencies outside of regular business hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 7+ years of experience in system administration, with a focus on Windows server environments.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019) and associated technologies.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, Azure Virtual Systems and Services and VMware.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and task automation.

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security principles.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, VCP, or equivalent.

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge and understanding of NIST principles related to system security, least privilege, configuration management and change management.
