Project Background:
Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. TerraPower, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying a sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in energy production vs usage.

Role Overview:
This position reports and receives direct supervision from the Project Quality Manager and receives functional direction from the NS&E Manager of Quality.
This position participates in the implementation of the quality programs and processes including people-based quality, human performance improvement, closed loop corrective action (CLCA), causal analysis, trending, continuous improvement, lessons learned, risk identification and management. This is a highly interactive position that requires communication with individual contributors, line management, and senior leadership. Applicants should be comfortable interacting with personnel at all levels in the project and corporate organization both individually, as well in large group settings.
This is a long-term assignment. This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. This position may require travel and additional overtime hours as deemed necessary.
Responsibilities:
** Responsible for conducting quality audits and surveillances at Project Office and Site locations
Identifies potential failure points and error precursors in requirements, work process, and process input/outputs
Gathers and analyzes data to assess work process performance and improvement
Maintains quality management system elements and tools
Establish, implement, and maintain a CLCA program.
Establish, implement, and maintain a PBQ execution strategy to engage employees with the goal of improving the quality culture on the project.
Actively engage with employees through communications about the Quality Absolutes and successes experienced through the PBQ Program.
Facilitate senior management’s PBQ Steering Committee and provide information on progress and effectiveness of issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support client relations and communication for project Quality programs.
Complete other duties as required in areas of quality in support of the project quality function.
Minimum Qualifications:
** Proficient at directing, facilitating and leading diverse teams to achieve timely deliverables.
Flexibility to respond to urgent requests and changing priorities.
Experience establishing, monitoring, and analyzing data and reporting results to management.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence change at all levels of the organization.
Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and applicable standards that impact the quality assurance program.
Knowledge of the quality assurance principles and programs and their application to other functions.
Knowledge of the application of corrective actions and nonconformance reporting and closure processes.
Strong oral and written communication skills and outstanding leadership, interpersonal skills and organizational abilities.
Must be a U.S Citizen/be able to work and remain in the US without sponsorship and have the ability
Knowledge of and experience with the application of recognized relevant quality assurance standards (e.g., ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B) and application to engineering, procurement, construction sufficient to comprehend requirements.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage a fast pace of work, prioritize tasks, adapt to changing situations, and meet short deadlines.
Demonstrated skills in planning, organization, and schedule compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
** Qualification as Causal Analysis Lead, or ability to become qualified within 6 months.
Qualification as ISO 9001 and NQA-1 Lead Auditor, or ability to become qualified within 3 months.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
Grade 25
** Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of relevant quality assurance experience. In lieu of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience including experience leading a quality function.
Grade 26
** Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited university and 10 years of relevant quality assurance experience. In lieu of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience including experience leading a quality function.
