We are seeking a Senior Director of Greenhouse Operations to work across our Research Triangle greenhouse portfolio. The Senior Director - Greenhouse Operations will have primary responsibility for daily operations of the facility, managing the greenhouse and laboratory requirements for its client tenants and working directly with the Senior Coordinator – Greenhouse Operations and Alexandria’s facilities team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Alexandria regional team in greenhouse space planning in the RTP region.

  • Lead facilities operations, maintenance procedures, and tenant relations for our multi-tenant greenhouse operations.

  • Execute and enhance (with third party vendors as necessary) standard operating procedures and programs for greenhouse and laboratory safety, safety training, chemical inventories, laboratory audits, laboratory operational permits, hazardous waste disposal, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all training, permits and incidents.

  • Coordinate vendor contracts.

  • Act as the primary interface between the tenants for greenhouse operations. Providing onboarding training, guidance and support on greenhouse use, initiating new services for tenants as required (e.g., coordinating shipment of lab samples, providing key vendor contacts, etc.), and providing advice on tenant-related decisions related to lighting, temperature, watering, fertigation/fertilizer, etc.

  • Assist tenants with recommending greenhouse and laboratory equipment/systems and coordinate installation of any equipment, assuring that all equipment requirements, including lab utilities and any safety requirements are met.

  • Maintain, program and train tenant users on greenhouse controls software, including both Argus and Priva managed systems.

  • Work with Alexandria regional team on general operations across the AgTech-focused campuses

  • Work with the Alexandria leasing team on projecting greenhouse demand, existing tenant needs, and prospective tenant tours.

  • Work to trouble shoot minor greenhouse and lab equipment issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience running a research greenhouse operation and/or science laboratory.

  • Familiarity with the life science industry and regional AgTech ecosystem.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with individuals at all levels, provide guidance, and great customer service.

  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and be able to consistently deliver timely and accurate results.
