Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting, direct hire placement of accounting and finance professionals, is recruiting to fill a Staff Accountant role for a private trust company in Reno. The successful candidate will be responsible for bookkeeping and accounting-related tasks including the maintenance of the general ledger, monthly financial reporting, and document retention for multiple business entities. This is an opportunity to work in a small office environment with a fantastic benefits package.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the general ledger for multiple business entities.

• Complete month-end and year-end general ledger closing tasks, including making journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and collecting/maintaining supporting documentation.

• Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages.

• Vendor profile maintenance including W-9 collections.

• Maintain electronic library for accounting and investment-related documents.

• Provide support for annual audits and tax filings.

• Prepare and file form 1099s.

• Support with ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is preferred.

• Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with QuickBooks.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, and prioritize tasks.

• Ability to work independently and in a small office environment.

• Must possess a high degree of integrity, respect for others, and trust to handle sensitive financial information.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar

• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) operations and procedures

• Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Strong knowledge of General Ledger management

• Experience with Journal Entries preparation and posting

• Familiarity with Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred

• Strong in Microsoft Excel

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
