Generac Power Systems Mechanical Engineer Intern - Summer 2025 in Reno, Nevada

We are looking for an Intern for our Mechanical Design Engineer team. As part of the mechanical group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will contribute to the design and validation, of Generac’s clean energy products.

This is an onsite internship in our Reno NV location and will be fulltime for the Summer 2025 .

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Developing mechanical components for next gen Residential Energy Storage Systems and Micro Inverters

  • Designing, prototyping, testing & validating components

  • Designing tools, fixtures and equipment for manufacturing

  • Ensuring solutions are manufacturable, serviceable, and compliant

  • Solving electro-mechanical integration challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related field with strong fundamental knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of common engineering materials and primary uses

  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability, and design for assembly

  • Familiarity in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks or Creo preferred, others accepted)

  • Experience in rapid prototyping (3D printing, quick-turn mockups)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
