PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $134,200.00-$164,000.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $104,200.00 - $194,000.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

The Sr Software Developer will lead teams in writing software according to design specifications and be responsible for the bulk of the more complex development work. As a Sr Software Developer, you will design and code features, automated tests, and scripts, and design data models, database scripts, and database migrations. You will recommend and implement technical solutions for business problems, contributing to system and service design and architecture. Your role will involve presenting and contributing solutions to technical leadership. You will also work closely with and mentor other developers, business and systems analysts, to build enterprise-class software.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and solutions by combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of software design

  • Deliver and design highly available and scalable services in a production environment

  • Lead small to medium-sized teams in the development and testing of system components/services, code, and design reviews

  • Present and communicate technical topics to the larger engineering community

  • Identify code/design/structural improvements across BECU technical systems and implement those improvements

  • Contribute to BECU code quality and extensibility by exemplifying and enforcing existing coding standards within delivery teams

  • Lead teams in automating and improving business processes and interactions with limited business guidance

  • Work with Architects and product owners to design and document the team’s technology roadmap and vision

  • Mentor junior developers/SDETs on the team via individual consulting and code reviews

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum five years of experience designing software and writing production code in a team environment

  • Deep understanding of Secure Development best practices

  • Proven ability to deliver highly scalable solutions in multiple programming languages and technical environments

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise with .NET, C#, node.js, modern JavaScript Frameworks, or Python

  • Experience with system administration and automation with PowerShell or bash

  • Knowledge of Open Source (OSS) technologies and libraries

  • Experience with public cloud (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud) technologies

  • Expertise in server-side web development, REST/web services, large-scale data analytics, networking, and service mesh

  • Proficiency in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems and tools

  • Deep expertise in Test Driven Development concepts and methods

  • Experience with SQL, data warehousing, and sophisticated ETL processes

  • Proven ability to stay current with emerging technologies and new applications of existing technologies

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
