At V2X, we are making a difference by delivering decision support tools critical for the protection of our forces when threatened by both physical and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) threats.

As a Junior Software Developer contracted to support the Integrated Early Warning of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Sensors project for the Department of Defense (DoD), you will play a vital role in the development of software solutions critical to national security. Operating remotely, you will work under the guidance of senior developers and subject matter experts to design, implement, and maintain software systems that enable timely detection, analysis, and response to CBRN threats. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects in the defense sector.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Assisting in the design and development of software systems for integrated early warning of CBRN sensors, under the guidance of senior developers.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, user needs, and technical constraints.

  • Writing code and implementing software components using established programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.

  • Participating in code reviews, providing feedback, and incorporating best practices for code quality, performance, and maintainability.

  • Supporting software testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing, to ensure software reliability and functionality.

  • Assisting in troubleshooting software issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Documenting software designs, development processes, and technical specifications to maintain project documentation and knowledge repositories.

  • Staying informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development to enhance skills and contribute to project success.

    Material & Equipment Directly Used:

    Computer, Phone, and basic office materials.

    Working Environment:

  • Function in an office environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more.

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and printer.

  • Must be able to travel to customer sites and test events.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred. Relevant coursework or internship / work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement:

Must have or be able to obtain an active U.S. DoD Secret level Security Clearance.

Experience / Skills:

  • Some experience or coursework in software development, with exposure to programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.

  • Basic understanding of software development principles, algorithms, and data structures.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with a passion for tackling challenging technical problems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey ideas and collaborate with colleagues remotely.
