Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

+ + The IT Documentation Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining documentation related to our IT compliance, infrastructure, systems, applications, and procedures. Working closely with IT teams, the specialist will ensure that documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible to support various stakeholders, including IT staff, end-users, and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

+ + Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, including network diagrams, hardware and software configurations, system architecture, and standard operating procedures.

  • Work with key stakeholders to create/update documents meant to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations among the members of an organization to include compliance plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policy and procedure documentation and compliance reports.

  • Establish document control procedures to ensure secure storage, retrieval, and version control of compliance-related documents. Implement document management systems or tools to facilitate efficient documentation workflows and collaboration.

  • Assist with establishing procedures for conducting audits and quality checks on existing documentation to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or outdated information.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.

  • Organize and categorize documentation to facilitate easy retrieval and reference, utilizing appropriate tools and platforms.

  • Regularly review and update documentation to reflect changes in technology, processes, and procedures.

  • Work closely with project teams to document new systems, implementations, and upgrades throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Create user guides, training materials, and knowledge base articles to support end-users and IT staff.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of documentation standards, templates, and best practices.

  • Coordinate, write, edit, manage, and publish content for internal IT websites.

  • Collaborate closely with a variety of stakeholders to develop and execute communication action plans to introduce changes to our IT services and make the transition smoother.

  • Provide training and support to IT staff on documentation processes and tools.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in IT documentation and knowledge management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

+ + Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Technical Communications, Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education/experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in IT documentation, technical writing, or knowledge management.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative editing tools.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Certifications/Licenses:
  • Certifications in technical writing, documentation management, or related field (e.g., Technical Writer Certification, Certified Professional Technical Communicator – Foundation) a plus.

  • Experience:

  • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.

  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) a plus.

  • Possesses critical thinking skills to synthesize scenarios and diverse perspectives to problem solving.

  • Business/Technical Writing Acumen:

  • Knowledge of documentation management best practices, standards, and methodologies to establish consistent formats, templates, and version control processes.

  • Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation tailored to different audiences, including IT professionals and end-users.

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.

  • Demonstrates the highest degree of safeguarding confidential, business, and employee data.

  • Business Partner/Effective Communicator:

  • Excellent communicator, both orally and in writing, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Skilled in presenting complex information in an understandable manner.

  • Strong organizational skills to categorize, structure, and maintain documentation in a logical and accessible manner, using appropriate tools and platforms.

  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Work quickly and efficiently; remain flexible to shifting of priorities. May work under time pressures.

  • Able to work in a dynamic organization by balancing multiple priorities.

  • Keen sense of prioritization with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, complex, and scaling environment.

  • Collaboration and Teamwork/Influence:

  • Self-motivated and adaptable with a positive attitude.

  • A highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently and have a strong sense of urgency.

  • Software:

  • Microsoft Office 365 suite

  • Proficiency in documentation tools and platforms, such as Confluence, SharePoint, or wiki systems

  • Technology:

  • Personal computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment.

  • The successful candidate’s starting pay will be based on, but not limited to, their job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

  • The following salary range is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation and may be modified at the discretion of the company.

  • USD $ 50,000 - 75,000

  • Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.
