PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $134,200.00-$164,000.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $104,200.00 - $194,000.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Senior Operations Engineer within the Infrastructure and Operations team you will be a leader in our hypervisor solution and managing efforts to improve compute, resourcing and modernizing our automation efforts. Individuals should have a good understanding of VMWare technologies such as virtual volumes, storage methods, content libraries, polices, profiles and resource pools, networking, migration methods, and strong Power CLI experience. Utilizing our current solution (VMware Aria) look for opportunities to create executive dashboards, real time telemetry and improve overall system health. Additionally Pure, Cisco UCS experience and knowledge in multiple virtualization platforms. Candidate should have good understanding of ITIL practices and ADO Kanban workflows.

Work location: Remote work within TX, GA, WA, AZ, SC, OR and ID

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Deploy with a Security-First Approach: Integrate security into every product and service deployment, ensuring that each update and change is fortified against potential threats.

  • Support Diverse Infrastructure: Manage and deploy bi-modal and hybrid infrastructures, tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of BECU’s business and technology customers.

  • Share Your Expertise: Act as a trusted advisor by providing technical guidance and support to product teams and peers. Share your knowledge and insights with your team and the broader engineering community.

  • Stay Current with Industry Trends: Participate in conferences, training, and communities of practice to keep your skills sharp and aligned with the latest industry standards and organizational patterns.

  • Optimize System Reliability: Analyze telemetry data to identify gaps and enhance coverage, reducing outages and speeding up resolution times to ensure the highest levels of reliability and availability.

  • Design and Diagram: Create and maintain architecture and dataflow diagrams that clearly represent your team’s products, including frameworks, protocols, and external dependencies.

  • Automate and Innovate: Use your knowledge of scripting languages and modern software methodologies to develop, manage, and automate services and processes, driving efficiency across the board.

  • Collaborate and Improve: Work closely with your team to implement best practices for software and systems, ensuring that solutions meet customer and business needs with minimal rework.

  • Enhance Security: Regularly analyze security metrics, vendor announcements, and threat intelligence to proactively address vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.

  • Mentor and Guide: Share your knowledge with junior team members, helping them navigate and understand BECU’s complex platforms and systems.

  • Resolve Issues Proactively: Remediate system configurations, vulnerabilities, and risks based on assigned priorities, ensuring that our systems are always secure and up to date.

  • On-call support rotations to provide 24 x 7 coverage

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.

  • Minimum 5 years of related functional experience required. Experience in one or more of the following disciplines required: Cloud Computing, Unified Communications, Virtualization, Web and Application Development, Infrastructure Services: Enterprise Maintenance and Support, Infrastructure Support

  • Technical focus in two or more of the following disciplines required: IaaS/PaaS, SaaS, Hypervisor, Enterprise SANs, Backups, Operating Systems, Hardware Solutions, Infrastructure-as-Code, or other modern enterprise infrastructure systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Any certification in hypervisor and Cloud Technologies

  • Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting products, services, and complex systems to production in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated experience using ITIL, traditional infrastructure and service management and modern software delivery practices, end-to-end automation concepts, and how to leverage tools to achieve these goals preferred.

  • Proficient in how to troubleshoot, monitor, integrate, configure, and administer SaaS applications and/or internal platforms for BECU's use preferred.

  • Previous experience using two or more scripting languages (Ex. PowerShell, Python, Terraform) with optimizing and debugging preferred.

  • Proficient with agile methodologies and lean principles (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Demos, Retrospective, etc.) required.

  • Proficient implementing security in a multi-tiered application required. Knowledge of more complex security methods preferred.
