THE OPPORTUNITY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Bilingual Literacy Specialist (Per Diem)
The primary role of the bilingual literacy specialist is to deliver literacy based professional learning to teachers and leaders across the region.
Essential Job Responsibilities/Primary Activities:
Facilitate professional learning using adult learning methodologies to support best practices in Balanced Literacy instruction
Deliver (in English or Spanish) in-person and virtual professional learning and coach classroom teachers and coaches on balanced literacy practices and instructional strategies
Support classroom teachers in building content knowledge and understanding their role in the implementation process
Provide reflection questions and suggestions as part of the coaching cycle
Maintain highest degree of expertise in literacy instruction and Scholastic product knowledge
Collaborate with AEs and PLS RDs to help expand professional learning opportunities
Maintain streamlined communication with the sales team to alert them of all activities related to the district (s) they are serving
Resolve and provide solutions on issues that arise during the engagement period
Communicate regularly with PLS Regional Directors and the AE about the ongoing professional learning needs of the district
Communicate regularly with the aligned Regional Directors about the ongoing professional learning needs of districts
Maintain professional relationships with districts
Cultivate and maintain relationships with team and partners
Literacy specialist reports to the Regional Director of Professional Learning
Qualifications

Requirements
Experience in balanced literacy
Master's Degree in education or reading related field preferred
Experience facilitating professional learning in literacy and/or reading preferred
Minimum of 3 to 5 years teaching/coaching experience
Fluent in both Spanish and English
Ability to maintain a travel schedule
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Power Point
Experience using Zoom and/or Google Meets
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Facilitation skills, professionalism and creativity
Valid driver’s license
Current knowledge of college and career readiness standards
Knowledge of the human change process and adult learning theories
