Job Summary:

Collects and analyzes data from multiple sources (including payer claims, EMR and other administrative and clinical data sources) for the development of reports and statistical information; determines the best format and design for reports and statistical information to be presented. Responsible for possessing a strong understanding of the underlying business, creating accurate business requirement specifications, and communicating details of the project plan and current state. Helps define the specification, project plan, and state templates. Guides and participates in the quality review of data sources. Submits reports and recommendations to the requesting business unit. Supports and helps the requesting business unit interpret results from the analysis and corresponding reports as well as provide recommendations on additional exploratory efforts based upon deep data experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops solutions within available databases to meet the request specifications. Recognizes outliers, anomalies and can illustrate and numerate the outcomes.

  • Creates rapport with requestors, actively listening and encouraging them to bring forth questions. Challenges requestor’s wants to get to the “need” and establishes reasonable project expectations.

  • Obtains well-rounded knowledge about available data sources within organization.

  • Automates as much of the data movement as possible for supporting recurring analysis.

  • Creates dynamic report layouts for users with solid data visualization skills.

  • Ensures project scope is maintained.

  • Interprets trends and patterns, identifies correlated variables, identifies significance.

  • Serves as department liaison for at least one service line or focus group conducting customer outreach for education or helpful data assistance.

  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Five years’ experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
