GE Vernova’s Gas Power business engineers advanced, efficient natural gas-powered technologies and services, along with decarbonization solutions that aim to help electrify a lower carbon future. As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team, FieldCore installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world’s energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.

FieldCore is looking for engaged and driven individuals with a passion for engineering to enrol in our Mechanical Apprenticeship Programme with Forth Valley College, in Falkirk, Scotland.

Let’s Talk about the Role

In the first year of our three-year Apprenticeship program, you’ll be learning in a state-of-the-art training environment at Forth Valley College. In years two and three you will be on site in various locations across the UK gaining the necessary skills in the workplace to develop and become a fully qualified mechanical technician in the Power Generation Industry.

On site as a Mechanical Apprentice , under direct supervision, you will safely accomplish the installation, maintenance and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. You will receive direction onsite from Lead or Sr. Turbine Mechanics and work closely with FieldCore’s Skilled Craft Labor Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve your goals.

You will gain an NC Mechanical Engineering PE02 (Performing Engineering Operations) and SVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (Work-based qualification). This combination of qualifications and training on site could lead to a qualified technician role within Fieldcore on successful completion of your apprenticeship.

Skills for Success

You will bring a high level of professionalism as well a strong technical competence and passion for engineering. You should also have:

  • Gained a Nat 5 qualification in English, Maths and a Technical or Science subject

  • A strong ownership and work ethic.

  • A desire to learn and problem solve.

  • A positive can-do attitude with the ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
