WTW Mid Level Software Developer in Reigate, United Kingdom

Our business is undertaking an exciting growth initiative, and we are expanding our team to develop a scalable and efficient technology platform to commercialize some of our latest inventions. The platform is largely based on Azure but tightly integrates with the Windows client.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Mid-Level Software Developer to contribute to the success of this high impact strategic initiative for our business. The official office location is Reigate, Surrey but the team are operating a remote (from home) work style with face-to-face collaboration days once per month.

The Role:

  • Designing, implementing, refactoring, and testing code (C#), following best practices for maintainability, testability, and performance

  • Implementing unit tests, developing test frameworks, and associated automated test cases

  • Reviewing and debugging code to identify defects, performance bottlenecks or technical debt

  • Working closely with engineers to guarantee suitable test coverage, identifying, and executing manual tests if necessary

  • Participating in daily stand-ups, design meetings, and show and tell meetings, striving to continuously improve the team performance, processes, and engineering practices

  • Working with the Product Owner to help create User Stories and define acceptance criteria

  • Documenting requirements analysis or design decisions

The Requirements:

The essential skills/experience for this position are:

  • Collaborative team player who is also able to interact with external stakeholders and clients

  • C# .NET Software development

  • GUI design/implementation, e.g., Windows desktop and/or websites

  • Significant software component development exposure in a previous role

  • Full software development lifecycle: requirements capture and analysis, estimation, detailed software design, object-orientated software implementation, unit and system-level testing, installation, and deployment

  • Ability to design high-performance, scalable, and extensible software architectures which are also easy to test, debug and maintain

  • Industry experience with software engineering best practices, processes and supporting tools

  • Experience of working in an Agile Scrum/Kanban environment

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are:

  • Appreciation of current and emerging technologies along with their potential benefits and limitations

  • Azure Cloud Technologies

  • Azure DevOps

  • PowerShell

  • SQL Server (or similar)
