The Salvation Army Corps Assistant in Redwood City, California

Description

OVERVIEW:

The Corps Assistant will facilitate the mission of The Salvation Army by working directly with the Corps Officers to provide leadership and support to the ministry programs of the Corps.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend all staff meetings

  • Assist the Corps Officers with the planning, implementation, and leadership of ministry programs

  • Lead and coordinate spiritual-based programs for children and youth

  • Develop and coordinate an after-school program for children and youth

  • Support and assist with Corps music programs and worship team

  • Assist with Women’s Ministry, Men’s Fellowship, Sunday Worship, and spiritual-based adult weeknight activities

  • Develop and lead outreach efforts to individuals and families

  • Coordinate youth and adult retreats, Divisional, and Territorial events, and fundraising efforts

  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers for Corps programs

  • Support Corps statistics and usage of the Corps Management System

  • Assist the officers with the coordination and implementation of seasonal activities

  • Present at the Advisory Board and Rotary meetings

  • Attend meetings

  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)

  • CA Driver’s license (required)

  • Experience in Corps Ministry (2 years preferred)

  • Experience with Microsoft programs

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

  • Knowledge of Salvation Army practices, policies, and organization, active soldier (preferred)

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and with a minimum of supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (Usually file boxes)

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
