Overview

Function as the site Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for a facilities operations and maintenance services contract that oversees critical operations at a NASA facility 24/7 in Redstone Arsenal, AL.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements and maintains company policies adhering to NASA, installation, local, state and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations

• Involved in the design and development of work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly

• Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating health, safety, and environmental policy and procedure manuals

• Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization

• Serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies, and installation safety, health, and environmental staff

Qualifications

• BA degree in related field or equivalent with HAZWOPER certification (minimum 24 hour) or the ability to obtain upon hiring

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Safety Manager on a US federal government service contract for facility maintenance, operations, and management

• An expert understanding of the health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to the site

• Ability to gain cooperation, coordinate the work of others, and build a cohesive team

• Capability to adjust work operations to meet emergency or changing program or production requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice to quantity and quality of work

• Ability to establish program objectives or performance goals and assess progress

• Excellent writing and speaking skills to facilitate communicate at all levels

• Strong MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills

• Excellent team member, organizational and planning skills

• Secret security clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

• Experience with AR 385-10 and other DoD safety, health, and environmental regulations

• Experience with ISO 14001 compliance
