This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Serves as a Data Scientist for the US ARMY AVIATION AND MISSILE COMMAND OFFICE OF THE COMMANDER REDSTONE ARSENAL, AL. Responsibilities The Data Scientist is responsible for performing duties involving the identification of methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from structured and unstructured data sets. Works on unique and complex tasks requiring unconventional approaches and applying and adapting sophisticated analytical techniques. Conducts scientific investigative studies involving the development or application of methodologies that extend beyond the present state of the art or involve and require highly original and imaginative approaches. Support analyses in one or more of the following areas: programming skills; machine learning; data architecture; data visualization; modeling and simulations; technology support; business and resource analysis. Serves as a Data Scientist using data science and analytics to plan, conduct, and present complex analyses related to supply chain planning and execution. Basic Requirements: A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. Specialized experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which includes 1) creating and implementing data collection and analysis tools while utilizing computer programming language; 2) Utilizing software applications and software languages such as (PowerBI, Tableau, Python, oracle and other data analytics tool)s to generate reports or data visualizations that convey data to technical and non-technical audiences; 3) collaborating with internal or external stakeholders to review specialized data and recommend solutions.
