Amazon Sr. Social Media Manager, Project Kuiper Marketing in Redmond, Washington

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We are looking for a Head of Social Media Marketing to lead the growth and management of Kuiper’s social media channels to support company initiatives. They will own social content decisions, driving long-term strategy, pre-planned campaigns and day-to-day editorial decisions. This role will also contribute to the development of new product features and tools for social marketing and measurement. The successful leader will own the content strategy, execution, and measurement for all of the existing social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram; Threads and X is also useful). You will work cross-functionally across internal teams including brand, content, Business Teams, Employer Brand, and PR, employer brand & other pan-Amazon social media practitioners. The incumbent will also review and edit content across the team to ensure quality and consistency in our brand voice. At the tactical level, you will own our content calendar, create a steady stream of organic and paid social media content, leverage performance metrics to experiment, and test new content ideas. At the strategic level, you will champion new ideas and opportunities to connect with external talent.

The right person in this role will be able to deal with ambiguity and take the lead in defining frameworks where no prior examples exist. They will be an ambitious self-starter with ability to operate independently and thrive in fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability and willingness to roll up sleeves and execute to get the job done will be key to success in the role. The successful candidate will have leadership experience (building and leading a team); a proven track record of strategic planning and delivery of digital consumer comms campaigns; experience with working across B2C, B2B, and B2G customer segments; a strong understanding of the current digital/social media landscape; experience of delivering successful social media and influencer campaigns – both organic and paid; and experience of delivering measurable results in both key brand and commercial metrics. They should be a strategic thinker, goal oriented and enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop growth strategy for emerging social channels.

  • Lead strategy for creator content to support the brand and content.

  • Developing and implementing social media/influencer/digital comms strategies, briefs and plans in line with Business priorities.

  • Manage creative and influencer agencies to plan and execute campaigns.

  • Support the brand marketing efforts with creator strategy for campaigns, events and partnerships.

  • Analyze and report social channel and activation performance to quantify the effectiveness of campaigns and drive scalable learnings.

  • Set an experimentation calendar and test hypotheses around the optimal editorial strategy.

  • Work with platform partners to ensure the business is adopting the latest product features and best practices.

  • Utilize industry and customer insight to inform strategies and remain an expert regarding on-going social trends and new platforms evaluation in line with global goals

  • Evolving channel admin and reporting processes to ensure a slick and cohesive operation

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholder teams – both locally and globally – including global social team leads to drive successful campaign delivery

Basic Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience working in social media marketing, telecom/cable/satellite preferred.

  • Undergraduate degree in Business related disciplines or equivalent industry experience.

  • Global social media channel management and scope.

  • Digital content producer experience

  • Avid user of social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, with solid understanding of the current feature set of each platform

  • Ability to analyze and learn from reporting data and insights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Creative mindset with ability to layer on strategy

  • Experience in developing and managing acquisition marketing or channel programs

  • Experience executing scaled campaigns through social media

  • Experience developing and executing campaigns across a multitude of time zones and languages

  • Experience presenting metrics and progress to goal to senior leadership

  • Highly organized, able to juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while managing essential admin and reporting work

  • Digital Communications expertise with a demonstrated knowledge of what works for a brand across social media and own channels including working successfully with influencers in both the organic and paid space

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners

  • Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint

  • Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements

  • Knowledge of web production processes and tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
