Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our team! Would you like to work on the Core OS team that powers Azure? Do you like working with big datasets and engineering data pipelines? Are you interested in Machine Learning and deploying models at scale?

Come work on the Core OS Data and Intelligence team in the Azure Edge + Platform org. This team drive innovation to securely and reliably reduce planned and unplanned OS/VM downtime through data. Our team is responsible for ensuring the fundamentals in the Core OS with a focus on creating infrastructure, tools, data pipeline, measuring performance and monitoring system for OS deployment on Azure Host.

Some of the problems you'll have the opportunity to work on: how to reduce the VM downtime during deployment? What is the best way to predict a fault and performance due to Host OS before it happens? What are the solutions and mitigation steps for software faults we can take to minimize customer impact? What is the safest way to flight features and experiments to improve the customer experience and minimize interruptions due to faults? Responsibilities

As a part of the Azure Core OS Data & Intelligence team, you will be responsible for:

  • Data analysis at scale including machine learning and visualization

  • Data architecture, modeling, and design

  • Instrumentation implementation and strategies

  • Building and maintaining tools and systems for analyzing and monitoring data.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering , or related field AND 2+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work

o OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science , Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering , or related field AND 5+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering , or related field AND 3+ years of business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work experience

o OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with databases, SQL, data warehousing, data mining, machine learning.

  • Solid background with systems software and Operating Systems.

  • A drive to find meaning through data and improve the customer experience.

  • Proficient in data analytics techniques: cleaning, transforming, modeling, and visualizing data

  • Pattern recognition and statistical analysis skills

Data Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
