Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Program Manager - Americas Central in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud.  Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (DCS) team is responsible for the development and implementation of global strategies across our Datacenters (DCs). As a Senior Technical Program Manager - Americas Central focused on Infrastructure Utilization Efficiency (IUE), you will be responsible for leading and managing projects aimed at optimizing power management infrastructure across diverse geographical locations and multi-disciplinary teams. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for maximizing efficiency, increasing energy consumption, and ensuring sustainable practices in our cloud infrastructure.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Technical Program Manager - Americas Central to join our dynamic team. The candidate selected will have a proven track record in managing cloud infrastructure programs, ensuring seamless integration of cloud services, and optimizing performance across the organization. As a Senior Technical Program Manager - Americas Central, you will play a key role in driving the successful strategy development, implementation and ongoing management of our cloud infrastructure initiatives across MSFT.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver against regional established Objective Key Results (OKRs) through innovative approaches to power harvesting against a set of constraints.

  • Lead infrastructure projects focused on driving infrastructure utilization initiatives across multiple datacenter facilities within the region.

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize datacenter infrastructure utilization while ensuring high reliability and performance.

  • Partner and leverage with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, finance, and business development to identify opportunities for improving infrastructure efficiency.

  • Develop strategies and execution plans against published Objective Key Results (OKRs) to measure the effectiveness of utilization improvement initiatives.

  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines for infrastructure utilization projects.

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members.

  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party partners to leverage their expertise and resources in driving infrastructure optimization efforts.

  • Be the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) between regional leadership and key stakeholder teams to communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities related to infrastructure utilization.

  • Continuously evaluate and refine processes and workflows to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

  • Power Harvesting Work Environment

  • Share best practices; assists others in learning role, process, procedures.

  • Collaborate and engage with other vertical team Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across CO+I and key partners to gain program/project insights. Leverage and synthesize these insights to develop and operationalize solutions that mitigate our customer gaps.

  • Seek training opportunities that meet the interest of the business as well as own career goals and objectives.

  • Suggest ways for reducing risk of performing retrofit projects; works with others to accommodate scheduling needs.

  • Suggest improvements in implementation based on depth of understanding.

  • Contribute to a positive team environment by learning and adopting best practices.

  • Contribute constructively during team meetings and in cross-discipline collaborations within the service team.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio,PowerBI, Project Professional, and Teams

  • Program management experience working with a geographically diverse team/v-team to launch scalable programs leveraging technology, tooling, and business processes

  • Previous Datacenter exposure/experience with operations, planning, and engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries

  • Attention to detail and high commitment to accuracy and auditing

  • Experience with independent thinking, integrity, ingenuity, results-orientation, self-motivation, bias for action, and resourcefulness

  • Experience working collaboratively & solve problems with groups

  • Experience solving problems by leading with passion and empathy for customers

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
