Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Commerce + Ecosystems (C+E) is responsible for enabling and optimizing the end-to-end customer journey on the Microsoft Cloud. C+E’s Commerce Platform and Experience (CPX) team helps customers learn about, purchase and pay for Microsoft and third-party products and services by facilitating all transactions, as well as managing the core commerce engine that powers Microsoft business, sales motions, and cloud strategy.

The goal of CPX core commerce services team is to foster a data-driven culture, to encourage and enable the azure customers and partners to make more informed decisions through data. As part of that work, the team develops and operationalizes the large scale distributed data platform that enables Microsoft customers to realize and manage cloud costs and partner teams to operationalize their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement user-centric features for the Microsoft Cloud platform, using customer feedback, usage data, and industry best practices to deliver engaging and intuitive solutions.

  • Measure and evaluate the impact and outcomes of the delivered features, using quantitative and qualitative metrics, and identify areas for improvement and enhancement.

  • Contribute to product architecture, test plans, and dependency management with oversight, ensuring adherence to security and compliance standards while driving coordination among teams.

  • Automate production and deployment processes, ensure compliance with security standards, stay updated with industry developments for product improvement, implement best coding practices, and maintains communication with key partners to align product development with customer needs.

  • Create and implement high-quality, maintainable code for products or features, diagnosability and reliability, proactively verifies assumptions, conducts retrospective debugging, review code to ensure it meets quality standards, and apply coding patterns and best practices in code reviews.

  • Maintain live service operations, identify and mitigate issues, integrating telemetry for system behavior analysis, and contributing to data analysis for refining product features.

Qualifications

R equired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in back-end development

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
