We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Fabric to join Azure Data, where the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture.

Azure Data Platform is quite possibly one of the most exciting Microsoft services today, frequently in the news, growing its user base very rapidly, and making waves across the industry. The Admin & Governance team delivers scalable and data-driven products and features that are core for Azure data. This work is designed to ensure that customers experience exceptionally fast service interactions and can efficiently manage any Azure data service for their organization.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-throughput mid-tier distributed systems, including backend APIs and large-scale cloud services. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect solutions that are scalable, reliable, and secure. The successful candidate will have a background in software engineering, with a focus on distributed systems and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, high-throughput systems and APIs.

  • Design high quality components in C# using clean and tested code.

  • Integrate Azure technologies to achieve high scale and reliability.

  • Optimize systems for maximum performance and scalability.

  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.

  • Provide support to online services by investigating and mitigating issues.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with C#, Azure SQL DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric

  • Demonstrated experience with scaling distributed systems and cloud services.

  • Expertise in backend development and API design.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
